AGA Associates were engaged to design and deliver an internal reconfiguration and triple-storey extension for a residential property on Bardsley Road. The project aimed to create a harmonious blend of contemporary architecture and traditional period aesthetics, ensuring that the new addition integrated seamlessly within its historic surroundings. The extension features a contemporary façade treatment arranged in a structured grid-like style, thoughtfully referencing the proportions and character of the existing period buildings. This approach allowed for a dynamic yet respectful architectural expression, maintaining a visual dialogue between the old and the new. To enhance the modern design language, we specified grey metal window and door frames, providing a crisp contrast to the textured cladding. Expansive glazing was incorporated to introduce natural light and connectivity between the interior spaces and the outdoor environment, creating a sense of openness and fluidity throughout the home. Internally, the layout was reconfigured to maximise functionality, improve circulation, and enhance spatial efficiency. The ground floor was transformed into a generous open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area, while the upper levels accommodated additional bedrooms, a master suite, and flexible workspaces, all designed to cater to contemporary family living. This project exemplifies AGA Associates' expertise in delivering thoughtful and innovative extensions that respect heritage while embracing modern design principles, ensuring a cohesive architectural response tailored to both context and client needs.
