Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II*, Scheduled Ancient Monument, Sited in AONB, Within a Conservation Area
Working initially for owners who purchased a medieval tithe barn, last owned by a veterinary practice, we secured complex listed building consent for the conversion and change of use to a dwelling. Following the property's subsequent sale, the new owners also engaged us to modify the original plans and convert the adjacent stables into yet further accommodation. The building had a complex history of failed applications, but working closely with heritage bodies we secured consents and improved the property's long term future - the consent included the ability to recreate the original cruciform plan form reinstating a lost threshing bay with a modern design interpretation that used a sympathetic palette of materials to blend new with old flooding light into the once dark roof space.
