New Build
The client wished for a basement dance studio and when the costs of building underground were considered it was decided the design should open up ground floor and extend to the rear six metres at ground level. The project was developed and both the client and neighbour preferred a green sedum roof to lessen the impact of the extension. The client preferred a seamless floor and after considering options with prices the client opted for a Terazzo floor without any joins. The dance space ran from deep inside the existing house to six metres beyond the rear incorporating the kitchen with dining area, if required. The design also included the redesign of the downstairs wc and utility room. The client was guided with regard to finish options and carefully chose their preferred finish for the kitchen. The client also preferred a spiral cellar. The project came in £2k under the price the client expected it would cost to build and after the client was shown their previous projects the builder with the lowest quote built this project.
