New House, Little Loughton Manor, Milton Keynes Having built the new Art Studio at Fullers Barn for neighbours John and Pam Walker, we were approached by Derek and Carol Martin, to explore the possibility of obtaining planning permission for a three bedroomed private residence in the grounds of their current home, Little Loughton Manor. Derek and Carol adore the Little Loughton area, but now that their children are grown up and have left home, Little Loughton Manor is too large for their needs. It is therefore their desire to downsize, to build a new sustainable and accessible home in their grounds, move into it, and sell Little Loughton Manor. The proposed house has been designed to be low in scale so as to remain subservient in appearance to Little Loughton Manor, Manor Cottages and Fullers Barn. Its form was inspired by Fullers Barn adjacent and it will be tucked away discretely behind the existing trees. It will, therefore, be hardly noticeable by the local residents or the public using either The Green or the park to the South West of the site. The floor plan was inspired by traditional aisled barns. The house will be constructed to sustainable standards with an exposed timber truss and purlin frame with stone walling to match Fullers Barn adjacent.
