ADP is masterplanner for the White Rose Office Park in Leeds; this new 5000sqm office to accommodate 700 staff for tenant HSBC is the most striking recent addition. Meeting the bank’s requirement for a single floorplate, our solution was to raise the office on piloti to exploit panoramic views, increase the prominence of the building, and to create a secure 200-space car park beneath the office. Sustainability was fundamental to the design, recognised by a LEED ‘Gold’ Standard rating. A generous floor to ceiling height with five giant monopitched rooflights provide an even distribution of controlled natural light across the whole floor plate, and full height glazing (shielded by a brise soleil) provides workers with a view and contact with outside. The result is a striking new building, which provides a high quality work environment that promotes improved business productivity, connectivity, spatial efficiency and staff satisfaction. This was reflected in the office being recognised in the British Council of Offices Northern Awards, Corporate Workplace category.
