There are more than 3000 RIBA chartered architectural practices in the UK, and only 90 of these have the distinction of having three or more RIBA Design Awards for UK projects since 2000. These 90 represent less than 2.5% of the total (source, www.bestarchitects.co.uk). ADP has won five RIBA over this period, with the Laidlaw Library for the University of Leeds the latest, in 2016. Occupying a prominent and sensitive site, between two listed churches, the Library was built on a brownfield site, and contributes greatly to the public realm. The RIBA judges complemented the design, noting that it is “extremely complex but rigorously executed in all manner of detail…controlled and highly accomplished”.
