Our proposals for this sensitive St. Albans site replaced a locally listed building. A triangular piece of land fronting two streets of separate and differing character set a challenge to the design process. Our proposal addresses each of the street frontages in an appropriate manner, resolving the junction at the apex with a hub of access and activity. The design was bold and contemporary in a traditional setting and is now a much-loved community that has been used as the location for film and television productions. The scheme shows that a bold response to a sensitive conservation area site can have a successful outcome.
