Freshwater East is located within the Pembrokeshire National Park, it endured much development during and after the last war. Holiday homes were developed on 100’ x 50’ plots bought from the Lamphey Estate. Most of these were timber framed corrugated steel clad and single storey with verandas. Sandyways was one of the original Freshwater East shacks within the west side of the village named the Burrows. The property was redeveloped in the 1980’s as a split-level bungalow.Though successful in it’s time, the existing bungalow became outdated and was no longer considered appropriate. The project integrates a large span bay to break up this east elevation and has introduced alterations to enhance the internal planning of the house. An extension provided additional bedrooms to enable the house to be used in retirement by a large family.
