The house will be a contemporary low slung building, modestly nestling behind the existing wall and embedded into it?s surroundings by the established planting. Reduced glazing to the north fa?ade reduces heat loss, with the inhabited rooms orientated to the south and to the view of the established garden. Living accommodation on the ground floor is centered around a curved glazed wall, allowing views of the garden whilst providing a sheltered area of outdoor space, not overlooked by neighbours. It uses a palette of traditional, natural materials such as render, brick, stone and timber, to soften the building and reduce its impact further, referencing those materials already in the area, and applying them in a contemporary way.
