The client required a unique rear extension with exposed timber beams and connection to garden. Unlike a simple lean-to or flat roofed extension, we designed and received planning approval for a hipped roof extension with warm roof construction and exposed “greenoak” trusses. We provided an area of flat roof between the existing and new roof in order avoid the hipped roof clashing with the existing windows. We provided roof lights to this flat roof area. To accommodate the requirement to have natural light, we also designed for double glazed unit infills to rear elevational roof truss. The multi-folding rear doors accommodate the need for the client to open up the rear wall and connect with the rear garden.
