AB Architects were tasked with transforming an 1892 Victorian build into a forever home fit for comfortable, contemporary living. At the core of this project are soft and natural touches, concessions for entertaining, and a sense of light and spaciousness. In order to see our client’s aspirations come to fruition, we opened up the space on the ground floor by remodelling the compartmented living, dining, and kitchen rooms and bringing in new windows, as well as demolishing and rebuilding an older extension to include a glass box to let in lots of natural light. Additionally, a reimagining of the layout across both floors was necessary to relieve cumbersome elements from the original design. Though modern improvements were made, maintaining distinctive and timeless features from the English heritage build that balance harmoniously with more current characteristics was an important part of our design scheme. The home's colour scheme is warm and neutral, featuring an English green kitchen and high-quality whisky herringbone flooring.
