Listed Building - Grade II, Within a Conservation Area
2 Webbs Court , Buckhurst Avenue , Sevenoaks , Kent , TN13 1LZ , United Kingdom
Tudor cottages was a2d’s first experience with a grade II listed building (and accompanying consents, including conservation area) and included the opportunity to design some new housing as part of the development. 3 existing office buildings were adapted into various styles of housing. Tudor cottages themselves were converted back to their former glory, not as their original form (in 15th Century) of 4 cottages but 2. Prospect House was converted into 3 flats and 2 offices and the annexe was completely re-configured into 4 terraced houses. The piece of the puzzle that held the scheme together was designing a 4th unit to the annexe to ‘close’ the space and create a private garden / outside space for all the residence to enjoy and overlook. This enabled the parking to remain separate at the rear and each dwelling to be accessed via the central courtyard. Planning issues meant the project was delayed many months but the project was completed in the Autumn 2014.
