About the practice

A Small Studio is an RIBA chartered award-winning architecture firm in London specialising in site-specific and responsive projects that are thoughtfully designed. The studio is winner of the Urban Oasis 2023 Don’t Move Improve! Award and Highly Commended in the NLA Awards 2023 workplace category. It was shortlisted by the Arts Council two years in a row as curators of the UK Pavilion for the Architecture Venice Biennale (2023 and 2025). A Small Studio was also shortlisted by Dezeen as ‘Emerging Architect of the Year’ in 2020 and selected by the Architecture Foundation as part of their ‘New Architects 4’ series in 2021 which surveys the best British architectural practices established in the past ten years. The studio’s approach revolves around meticulous attention to detail, harnessing natural light, and creatively addressing our clients' unique requirements. Our expertise extends to Change of Use of land and properties, commercial fit-outs, renovating historic properties, new build design and circular construction techniques. We seek to create high quality, architecture that ages gracefully and is ecologically sensitive We deliver projects that respond creatively to their context. The studio has a commitment to design, detailing, materiality, and wellbeing- of both its studio members and the stakeholders it engages with. Being small means the studio is flexible and its ethos is to focus more on quality than on growth.
