The house was designed to provide a sustainable, future proofed house for its occupants. The brief was to provide a home that could be adapted to the client's needs in the future and was designed so that ground floor accommodation could be modified to provide bedroom and accessible bathroom when required. In addition the house was designed to maximise solar gains through orientation as well as a very well insulated building fabric. Shading is provided to the south elevation to prevent overheating in the summer months but allowing sunlight in during the winter. Underfloor heating is used throughout the ground floor. Views through the house lead to the garden with a natural pond and connect the interior to the exterior. A&J Architects have provided their clients with a "forever home" that will easily adapt for the future whilst minimising the building's carbon footprint.
