Built on the site of the former James France foundry building the existing steel portal frame was retained and re-clad. The new Stewart Mason building provides lecture and seminar rooms for post graduate teaching together with facilities for the Universities Media Support Department. The project incorporated a new external space substantially improving the adjacent pedestrian walk way.
