A single storey side extension in London Borough of Richmond upon Thames to replaced a tired lean to conservatory. The existing house, a grand Victorian villa in a Conservation Area was rich in period detail. We prepared a measured survey suitable for a planning application. During this exercise we studied the detail of the house to inform the proposed scheme that provided additional living space on the ground floor. The scheme progressed smoothly through planning in the usual timescales. The proximity of a large tree was mitigated by constructing the new walls off the existing footings of the conservatory. The client organised the internal fixtures and fittings and we provided services for building control approvals, sourcing a structural engineer and liaising with them during the process.
