A contemporary ground and first floor extension to an Edwardian House. The existing house had remained largely unaltered with the exception of the addition of a conservatory to the garden facing elevation. The proposals include the comprehensive re-modelling of the ground floor, and include building on the footprint of an existing single garage building to create a series of new spaces for living, dining and entertaining, orientated around a strong connection to the garden. A series of sculptural roof forms clad in zinc capture daylight to ensure the new spaces are light filled and uplifting. At first floor a modest extension adds additional floor area to bedroom one, to include an en-suite and dressing area. The choice of contemporary construction materials including black brickwork and grey and red zinc cladding, inspired by the original building, clearly define the extent of the new additions, and preserve the architectural integrity of the original house.
