Completed in 2014, Stop Farm is a C17 vernacular Chicksgrove stone thatched listed farmhouse, with barns and a straddle stone granary within a courtyard setting with further buildings, cottages and paddocks to form a wide whole. The aim was to completely renovate the farmhouse in order to create a more usable family home and to convert the redundant barn linking it to the main house by extending the vestibule, while maintaining the historic arrangement and character of the farmhouse. The scheme considered the architectural character, features and layout of the original building and by removing the modern extensions it enabled the concealed C18 extension to become visible. The scheme has been a great success by respecting the character of the heritage assets due to the sympathetic additions such as the eyebrow dormer and by retain its historic form and integrity, preserving the architectural and historic features.
