About this project

Extension & deep retrofit to a detached home. Our client asked us to unlock their home’s potential in what turned out to be a challenging project. Their aim was to improve a poor front façade and create a more welcoming approach to the house. They also hoped to open up a maze of smaller living spaces to create a large open plan living space with a fantastic relationship to the garden. The key move was the addition of a new entrance and stair to the front of the house. This created a dramatic double height hallway and freed space to create a utility room, family bathroom and the generous open plan living space our client desired. An existing rear extension was revived with the addition of large sliding doors and timber cladding. Our client can now make the most of the garden’s south facing aspect. Views through the house have also been created to add further moments of delight to their daily lives.
